Greetings,

Since it seems that the Mac patch 3.1 is undergoing some extra-extended QA, I wanted to quickly mention that on a new Macbook Pro with an SSD, a 2.6gHz i7, 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M, this game is effectively unplayable once arriving in California due to very frequent crashes and hangs. The crashes come out of the blue, the hangs are on game loads or when entering new areas and the only way to get out of them is to force-quit. It's pretty clear that this game never received any organized QA on OS X after Arizona and it does feel like a bit of a ripoff for that reason, but I realize that isn't the fault of GOG. I see these issues also reported in other forums on other sites.

It is possible to avoid about 90% of crashes by setting all graphics to the lowest possible settings, so it can be played if you don't mind it looking ugly (I guess I do mind that – this isn't such a great-looking game at the maximum graphics settings but it's downright off-putting at the lowest and makes me very nostalgic for Fallout 1/2 graphics since they were at least lovingly designed for their time).

It would be great if someone could give the game a bit of testing on the Mac with settings which are appropriate to the hardware rather than the lowest possible settings and see if it is possible to get Inxile to fix whatever it is that makes this game not function appropriately on the Mac in California. I don't think it's just the Unity engine since things work so much better in Arizona and I've played other Unity games in OS X which were completely solid.

Thanks!
I'm on a 2013 iMac (3.2GHz i5, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 680MX), and I had problems once I hit California as well. It was restricted to the travel map - the game would crash every time I tried to leave Santa Fe Springs. I had the graphics quality on high across the board, and for me just cutting the texture quality down to half solved the problem and allowed me to travel. I still get occasional crashes, but they're pretty rare and not restricted to the travel map.
