[./play.it] Install the Wasteland games on Linux

-----

Hello fellow Debian users, Ubuntu lovers and Mint freaks!

Here you’ll find scripts allowing you to build a .deb package from your MojoSetup installer (.sh) for Wasteland 2. You can install it through DPKG and remove it through any APT front-end (apt-get, aptitude, synaptic, etc.).

Download links and usage instructions can be found on the following page:
Wasteland 2

I hope you’ll enjoy the comfort provided by these scripts as much as I enjoy writing and tweaking them ;)

Here you go for more supported games!

vv221:
I have the game installed and when I try to start my first playthrough it just hangs on the loading screen, any idea on how to fix that? Also I had to force restart my laptop because once I alt-tabbed out of there the mouse was still under Wastland control (had the wasteland logo) and it wont let me click anywhere on the screen.

"Vanilla" version or Director’s Cut?
Installed via the ./play.it scripts, or with the standard GOG installer?

Directors Cut, standard installer
WL2 DC tends to be rather buggy on Linux (check the inxile forum).

Maybe try the following two solutions:

Increase the maximum number of open files: https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=14060#p159807

Start without the GOG bundled libraries: https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=10460

Your best move, as tseliger suggests, would be to post your problem with as much details as possible on the official inXile forums.

Yup, now it starts but I'm getting that problem that is stated in your first link. I wonder when they are going to patch it. Thanks for the support guys!

Thanks for the links. Once solving that open files issue I find the Director's Cut is less buggy in Linux than it is in Windows, at least with AMD hardware.
I don't know how often you still check these threads, but I figured I'd mention that your script for Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun Hong Kong are out of date at this point. I know you have some threads linked on play.it, but unfortunately I'm not too hot at French.

EDIT: To add on:

Current Wasteland 2 Director's Cut version is 2.3.0.5 with md5sum of dc697b13e1f08de606add7684b5b3f78

Current SR:HK version is the Extended Edition 2.8.0.10 (I think the script on the website is still for the original) with md5sum of a6a6859556306c5fb5e165b4fcefccce

Thank you, I’ll take care of these as soon as possible.

The SR:HK file name is different now. Something like "gog_shadowrun_hong_kong_extended_edition_2.8.0.10.sh".

Thank you again for continuing to support these scripts. Definitely makes things more convenient for deb based distros.

Just a typo in the page, the script itself targets the right file name.
Thanks for the report anyway, I’m going to fix the name in the page.
