*Sigh* And things seemed to be going so well...

Anyways this crash to desktop occurs when, in the process of selecting a random map and choosing sides (I always use customized side so, instead of the default 'Orcs' I have my own 'Orcs' for example) but trying to customize the shields for ANY side the game crashes to desktop. I can create and select custom sides all I want but as soon as I click one of those shields to change the look from the default the game crashes.

I am on Windows 10 x64 and using an Nvidia Geforce care that is about 1-2 years old, 16 gigs of RAM.

Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to duplicate what you did, (customized side, random map, 3 sides, changed Shield design but not color) started the game, and had not problems. I don’t think it’s a bug... Try and change the screen resolution just in case this causes the issue you are having.

I suppose I should be more detailed with my computer specs:

Hewlitt Packard desktop -
Intel R Core 15-3570 @3.40 GHz (x4)
I know I have 16GB of RAM but I have no idea how to find this information in Windows 10. Does not seem to even have this info' stored anywhere.
Nvidia GeForce GT 1030

Again, the game crashes to desktop as soon as I click on any shield on the screen where you sides are displayed and can be clicked upon (or rather that small bubble can be clicked on to customize or change the side and the shield can normally be clicked upon to customize the heraldry(if I am using the correct term)).
When I click on any shield on the game set up, I do not get the response you are describing. The game is functional 100% for me. Have you made any changes to the GOG vanilla version with 3rd party software ?? as this may have impacted the proper functionality of the game.

I do not think so. I may have added a couple user-created campaigns (but did not properly unpack them as I am prone to forget the added steps for using new campaigns...especially after a few years of being unable to play Warlords III:DLR). And I most certainly did not add more extensively modded user campaigns like 'Legion of Blood' (which IIRC added further shield customization options).

My final suggestion would be to back up all saves, etc, uninstall and reinstall the game. Chances are this will eliminate the issue you are having. Good luck!

I did just that...removing all the custom armies, heroes etc, uninstalling then re-installing and everything seems to be working again. I have since replaced all of the extra heroes, armies, spells etc. - save for ones I felt were dubious or or something and the game works fine still. I have not reinstalled any campaigns or scenarios as I suspect this was what caused me problems before.

Anyway thanks for the help and take care.

By CROM! I am glad it worked out for you. I am always happy to help a fellow Warlord - Hopefully we won’t ever have to meet in opposite sides in Battle! :)
Thank you, I was having this problem too and will re-install.
Damn this didn't work for me. I'm on Win 7 64bit
