Ok, so i played this many many, many years ago and loved it, i'm sure i'd still love it but i read the first review on the store page that says heroes got nerfed badly. So has this been fixed? Asking because i wanted to see if i could gather up the money to get it during the discount as i'd love to play it again.
Yeah it's been fixed. I think the installer just uses the latest official patch (1.03) now, so everything should be as you remember it.

u2020bullet: heroes got nerfed badly.
I played the game a few months back and heroes were fine for me. I'd say it's worth it.

P.S. if you build your hero poorly you will feel underpowered in some situations and in some single player missions where you have to use your hero for combat.Pure utility heroes that focus on trade or buffing their units will have serious problems in solo missions like the Barbarian council.
So a bit out of topic <kinda>... how one should build it's heroes?

If you are going to build them for the campaign make sure to put enough points in their combat stats.
If you are making a hero for a custom map game you can go crazy and make whatever.

Having a lot of HP is essential you you might get zaaped.
Speed is important too.
Investing too much into HP and not enough into speed can also be a problem since assassin heroes will catch up to you and obliterate you.

If you go for sanik speeds you can troll your opponent by running around and capturing all his structures.
Still there are spells that auto lock so if you get in the circle of influence of a powerful mage he will zap you from pretty afar if he has the proper stats.

Trial and error is how i build my heroes.
Thanks. I was curious how to generally build heroes, taking into account that there are missions in the campaing where you are alone... So mostly HP, Speed... and combat in general. Well... Necromancers, too, get go fast!
