One of the earlier patches replaced Pyromancer's "Demolition" skill with "Fire Missile". Particularly for the excellent minotaur pyromancer combination....

1. Fire Missile does very low damage (half of base damage to start, and gains only a small fraction of bonuses from items), until you spend many points (at least 30) in the skill.
2. Fire Missile fires more slowly than your hero's melee attack.
3a. Fire Missile breaks Minotaur Hero's ability to eat animals to heal. On their own, they move into position for a ranged attack on the animal, and then freeze. If moved "manually" adjacent to the animal and the animal targeted, they swing their axes merrily, but do no damage, and the sheep just stares at them with a hurt expression. :)
3b. The above bug also means that a wounded hero, if following an attack-move command, will get stuck trying to eat any animals on the way.
4. Fire Missile can't be toggled off, which would presumably fix the above. I think one can still force melee attacks by carefully moving the hero adjacent to a target, but it's definitely not practical in a difficult battle (and I'm not even sure it works correctly, see 3a above).
Fixed in The Protectors version 0.8.7. Thank you for sharing.
Interesting, Patrick, thanks for letting me know. I still haven't tried that mod - perhaps I should!
