Hey guys, I know Warcraft 1 can be a pain to play due to the awkward way of selecting multiple units and easily issuing commands. I found a mouse helper that completely fixes this. It's 100% compatible with the GOG version. Check it out.

All credit goes to Osprey.

oooou, many thanks, superb
Undoubtedly the best thing to happen to Warcraft Orcs vs humans since its release. Turns it from being a beloved keepsake to something I might actually play again.
I am under Windows 10 in 64 bits, and unfortunately I have a problem.

When I select a peon/paysant, the shortcut that allows to move (right mouse button) works perfectly, but if I select a footman or a grunt the shortcut doesn't work.

Help please.

I know that this happens if you select peasants and soldiers at the same time. That's because I have the Harvest and Attack commands assigned to right click--with Harvest obviously applying to peasants and Attack applying to soldiers--but, if you have at least one peasant selected with at least one soldier, the game prevents both commands from working. If you look over at the command bar, you'll see that the only two commands that are valid for mixed groups are Move and Stop.

The first workaround is to make sure that you're selecting only peasants or only soldiers.

The second workaround is to use the middle mouse button to send an explicit Move order. That should work even with mixed groups, since both peasants and soldiers have a Move command.

If you wonder why I don't just assign Move to right click, well, I figure that it'd be very frustrating to right click to move a unit and then have him do nothing when he gets there. Most people probably expect a unit to harvest or attack the thing that they right clicked on, so that's why I made that the right click action and set middle click to Move for any cases when right click doesn't work or isn't desirable. I might make the assignments configurable in the next version in case anyone isn't satisfied with the default behaviors.

Thanks for the link, I will try it out. I forgot how painful it was to play these older RTS games...the things you forget over the course of about 20 years. :P
Play WC3 with the WC1 mod. WC1 still lacks too for controls. Its just an exercise in frustration and patience and the lack of basic RTS keybind features kills the fun for me.

Wc3 bad at basic control features as well. Warcraft 2 The Dark Saga although have it, released before Wc2 Bnet Edition (Sega Saturn port).

Best at it is Dawn of War 1 engine games.
