Hi, I wonder what is the default Dos sound settings for the game, when one launch the game there is an option to reconfig sound settings If you press "2", I tryied and tested some other sound config settings. After the reconfig, I notice some static noise in the sound fx of dialogues (units), but I'm not sure If that static noise was already there as part of the sound records or is due I changed the sound setting config. Would be nice to know for:
-Digitized Sound Card
- Music Sound Card
Just recong it again and do not choose any specific options. Choose general/digital cards.

Check GOG support dosbox articles, dosbox site wiki(/faq) and configure manually .conf file(s) in game folder. Each section have enough info. It must be done for all dosbox games releases, but almost all parameters still same.

You can download DosBox latest version from offsite and use it default conf file for main settings.
Hi, thanks for reply. Well I think I found the issue, it seems that the units sound fx has some background record noise as default, that background noise almost didn't noticed with the default sound config.
(By the way the noise is just on units fx, the music is alright)

I'm writing this so it might help for people who are looking for fix something similar

I think the default sound config is Sound Blaster Pro (one must choose "autodetect" for the "Set port address and other stuff", I think the default settings of that are: 220 then irq 7 and then 1, but is better to choose just autodetect)

So the issue was I changed the sound settings (Digitized Sound Card) and I picked Sound Blaster 16/AWE, so by consequence I got too much detail on units sound fx (or maybe the other way.. xP, I'm not sure), so I heard the default unit sound fx background noise too loud.

A tip to get better music sound, I picked at Selected Music Sound Card: Sound Blaster Pro II/ SB 16, and I choose autodetect for the config, the default was General Midi, the quality of the music really changed, it heards more smooth and more detailed

Also a last tip but this is for visuals, close the play button in the launcher (at the right hand) there is a small config tab--> Additional Executables--> Graphic Mode Setup:
I selected
- Keep aspect ratio
- Scaling Engine: hq3x
- Window Resolution: 1920x1200

just that for a really nice Warcraft 1 Orcs & Humans experience :), I found that small config tab after I played the full Orc campaign in full screen very pixelated.. lol... well I think I'm going to replay it again but now in a better resolution and quality :)

Warcraft 1 was my very first game I ever played when I was like 5-6 years old :), I'm very glad by the GOG versions of these two awesome games Warcraft 1 and 2!
cant say much, just one more advise. if u install game in galaxy - you can try verify game files. It work same as in Steam - and even more - even more reser: reset links, dependencies (redists: DirectX, VC), compatibility, and most likely - some GOGlauncher configs. Just like game default config file. That game\DosBox files, that exist in Galaxy game manifests:
http://www.gogdb.org/product/1706049527/build/52130004871884340

For offline to recover original GOG default game and DosBox configs you must reinstall game. Or, as i say before, you can try default configs from latest DosBox. It about all sounds cracking, not specific problem.

Main point is that no general settings for any game and for any DosBox games and GOG always did some wrong changes. Also, GOG DOSBOX Launcher is wrong for Windows version of Warcraft 1. For unknown reason GOG use outdated launcher with less options available (GOG fix that for MAC DosBox build - check Changelog).
