Removing/renaming ddraw.dll didn't fix the stuttering, if I do that the game shows "Unable to create primary surface, error=100 The game will be terminated."

"Play videos" is not set to fullscreen and even when launching it with dxwnd the lag remains.

Any ideas?
i'm having the same problem after switching from win7 to win10. no luck so far ...
And, while GOG is at it, fix that "individual scenarios unplayble" problem.

Yeah I'm still having the issue despite trying the fixes listed above while using Windows 10 x64
If you guys are getting weird colors, try this batch file:

Echo off
Cls
Taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
Cd C:\gog games\war wind\
WW.exe
Explorer.exe
Exit

I don't remember the explanation but explorer screws with the color somehow, I use this for a lot of old games like diablo 1 for instance and anno 1602, works like a charm.

Also I renamed the directdraw file and got rid of the stuttering, I hope it gets fixed soon :)
ok got rid of stuttering by renaming ddraw.dll file too (win7)
seems to be working fine after removing fullscreen cinematics too, very minor color issue left on a few sprites ("cancel" button, movement confirm cross)
now I wish that multiplayer is fixed >.<!!!! and this ddraw thing, well it's better if it works immediately cause some might not figure it out?

EDIT: However the stuttering in the editor, while it is also fixed by renaming that other editor ddraw.dll, comes with horrible colors all over in the editor!! Please fix!

Salutations !

Download the archive dgVooDoo2.zip there :

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6bq540tjui1fvr3/dgVooDoo2.zip?dl=0

Place the dll files from the archive to the game's directory, by default:

C:\GOG Games\
or :
C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\

Tell me if this changes anything :)

This solution has worked for me I don't seem to get any crashes anymore and I think the stuttering is gone, there is a rather minor issue going on which is the mouse cursor flickers now but the game works.

I would like to know if somebody tried multiplayer and made it work.
@ProMeTheus112

Thanks for the link! The game plays much better with the dgVooDoo files (renaming DDraw gave me the same error as others). I no longer experience any dreaded stuttering and the game plays in full screen now (a nice bonus). Though the mouse cursor does flicker now which is a bit irritating, but oh well, I'l have to deal with it. Hopefully I don't experience any crashing, but we'll see.
