Is this just a one time game or are there any additional modes, unlockables, challenges, new game+ etc.? I really want to have this game but on the other hand, I don't want to pay 12$ for a game that I can beat in few hours and uninstall (yeah I know it's hard but I'm accustomed to this kind of platformers).

Well, the game may be good but there's not a lot of content for your buck is there? Especially when there's more Symphony of the Night styled Valdis Story with tons of content, unlockables, beautiful graphics and only 3$ more expensive. 12$ for 1 hour content game? More like 5$ in my book... But I still want it :D

Yeah, the value of the game really comes from how you enjoy playing these kind of games. If you enjoy speedrunning, score attacking, or just playing through games like the original Castlevania or Ghosts N Goblins multiple times; you will get a lot of playtime out of the game. If you're just looking to beat the game and shelve it, you may feel it lacking content for the price.

I've personally beaten it several times over, whether I was trying to beat my scores or times, or just replaying the game like relistening to a good song or rewatching a good movie.

Edit: You could always wait and hope for a GOG sale and pick it up then. If you do, don't forget to read the manual! It'll bring you right back to the 80's and 90's, haha.

I do and I will, but that doesn't change the fact that you're replaying over and over the same 1 hour worth of content. For this price there should be some additional modes, challenges or unlockables. Even the first Castlevania and G'n'G had special hard mode with changed enemy placement and some new mobs. As a Castlevania fanatic I don't pass on any game with similar gameplay style so I'm still going to buy it, I just wish there were some extras other than different endings... A hard mode with more sadistic enemy/trap placement, maybe a special mob or two or additional hard to avoid boss attacks would be great for some kind of ultimate punishment/challenge :)

After completing the game there's an entirely different set of harder levels that have different rules for how they work (they are both a different "mode" and different level layouts), a secret level, and an extra secret boss. That seems to be what you are asking for. Most players take twice as long to get through those as they did for the normal levels, and typically players spend anywhere from 40 to 80 hours of play before they see everything. Whether the content is a lot or a little depends on your point of view.

I feel you. I'm just basically saying I feel I got my moneys worth out of the game, but that's too subjective for me to really backup haha.

There is the alternate path, as Judas said, that is a harder remake of the main levels with a new level layout and enemy placement, plus a bonus level at the end.

No :D I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy Volgarr A LOT, I love this kind of punishment, that's why I want more content - so my masochistic desires can be quenched for longer ;)

Oh yeah, I was definitely sold after playing the demo! I'm hoping for a GOG version, but if push comes to shove I can do with a Humble Store copy.
