Four new languages (Russian, Portuguese Brazilian, Chinese and Japanese) and full implementation and UI integration for the joypad bringing a new dimension for a point & click adventure experience.

ABOUT FULL CONTROLLER SUPPORT

To verify if the Joypad Support is working it should be detected inside the configuration options of the game inside preferences - controls - configure joypad. You can assign a joypad by clicking on the assign joypad button and then clicking any button.

The controler is also fully customizable but the default configruation is the following:

Left stick: Movement
Right stick: Cursor
A: Left button
B: Right button
X: Journal
Y: Inventory
Left Trigger: Slow cursor
Right Trigger: Very slow cursor
Right shoulder: AVR On/Off

To hot swap from mouse to joypad you can use A,B,X or Y.

The joypad has been tested extensively but if you find any bug please do not hesitate to contact us.

ABOUT JAPANESE LOCALIZATION

The Japanese version was initially planned for the end of June. However, to coincide with this STEAM sale, we decided to make the localization work into Japanese one week earlier than originally planned so that Japanese fans could play it as soon as possible. Given the time constraints, it's complete but not playtested.

We would like all Japanese players to purchase at the sale price during this sale period, but it may take another week or so to play VirtuaVerse in the best condition.

Thanks a lot for your support!

Thank zou for the update, though Ißll personallz stick to mouse. To my understanding the updates also includes a new scene. Should we start a new game to trigger it, or the old saves are still good?
Also, I hope the Japanese font is not so pixalated that's hard to read as it happens to many "retro" games.

Hello. No the game has no new scenes but has full joypad support. Please make sure to update using GOG galaxy otherwise you will need to wait on monday for the local version update (especially needed for linux)

As for the japanese it's a 16x16 font so it's got a good readability.
I might have tken a joke on Facebook seriously then.
The Japanese font is truly sleek and nice, and readable.

I have a couple of suggestions:

1 down/up arrow keys and/or mouse wheel to scroll dialogue options.
2 a "click to read the next line of text" option, text will wait for user input
3 less necessary but for nostalgia, I also like F5 to save XD
4 telling the players that the game does not autosave. We expect it nowadays so I have lost all my first hours of progress
5 a key to go to next line of dialogue - to my understanding only mouse click can do that now. It voulld be nice to do that via keyboard, like . in LA games.
6 an option to double click to fast travel to the next screen rather than waiting for the character to walk there
XD

I think these little things would make the game more pleasurable
I cheated, it's more than a couple things.
Thank you for your answer and checking the GOG forum! Apparently many other devs cannot be bothered XD

1 down/up arrow keys and/or mouse wheel to scroll dialogue options.

This should be working already since the first version. Isn't it working for you? Also 1-2-3-4-5 on key let you choose them.

2 a "click to read the next line of text" option, text will wait for user input

Something we are working on for next updates

3 less necessary but for nostalgia, I also like F5 to save XD

Eheh that woul dbe cool.

4 telling the players that the game does not autosave. We expect it nowadays so I have lost all my first hours of progress

Yes this is also in our schedule and will implemented in next update.

5 a key to go to next line of dialogue - to my understanding only mouse click can do that now. It voulld be nice to do that via keyboard, like . in LA games.

Yeah that's good can be done.

6 an option to double click to fast travel to the next screen rather than waiting for the character to walk there
XD

About this there's a big debate. We do not really agree about this becuse it breaks the mood but we already made the player speed a bit faster with the 1.2 and for the next update we are planning a minimap that will teleport you to the main areas.
Thank you for your detalied answer. I like what I read!
1 I am using numbers to select dialogue options, but the arrow keys do nothing for me. The mouse wheel is working but I am on a laptop and hadn't tried it yet.
2 great for replays in other languages
4 nice to know that you care and are working for all sorts of improvements
5 I like a combination of pointer and keyboard for playing this kind of adventures sincegolden age of Lucas Arts
6 a map would be awesome! I understand why as a creator you don't want to implement it, and the character is fast. I remember the pain of waiting for Sam & Max to walk a screen in Hit the Road, made me want to throw the screen out of the window. Absolutely not the case with VirtuaVerse, and it's nice to look at the detailed screens. I'm just impatient.

One more thing, about Galaxy integration. The game page states that there is overlay function. but for me SHIFT + TAB does nothing. And I can't take a screenshot with F12. That's how I noticed.
I tested with the Witchter 3 and it worked.
The only thing accomplished by SHIFT + TAB is freezing the ingame mouse cursor. The Windows pointer becomes visible but cannot interact with the screen. SHIFT + TAB again brings back the game pointer to life.

Please try again now and let us know. There was a temporary issue with the intergration that was happening till the new update we pushed on monday evening. Not sure if it's the game or related to that tho.

1) nope, the keys doesn't work. but as said you can use numbers like in old-school games. but the mouse wheel works
4) we are implementing autosave today
5) yes we added more options for this
6) yeah i mean, the point is that we don't want to "allow" compulsive beating of the game. there's already a lot of people that simply do not understand the spirit of it and just want to beat it and then get frustrated cause they can't solve puzzle quickly. this is a bit sad because they don't understand this is a game that is instead based on challening old school puzzles. but yeah, to have a minimap that let you jump to main areas is something we want to add cause there's specifically 2 points in the game that needs to go back and forth and that's annoying us too. especially since we are going to port this to console it's something that type of audience would totally ask for so we'll implement it for computer version first. will be a minimap in the same device of the journal that let you jump in the main areas, for example in the first part you will able to jump between apartment, pillstreet, slums and the club.
EDIT:
all is fine and dandy and the devs are updating and fixing stuff by the day
........................................................................................................

Overlay still not working and F12 for screenshot still not working.
Defo a very minor issue for me, but just letting you know.
I would love to replay the game on a Switch one day.
