I'm a bit skeptical as it has clunky battle systems, but I can appreciate a good game though..
please do convince me to seal the deal of buying it:

1. what can I expect when I play this game? like good storyline?, atmospheric?, etc etc..

2. Lots of ppl said that this game is a buggy mess, tons of bugs. is this GoG version already patched to sort all of the bugs? (I know there's unofficial patch and mods, but I'd rather avoid the hassle and just buy and play it right away)

thanks!

In my opinion one of the best storylines ever with a great atmosphere and cool characters.

The GOG already comes with the basic version of the latest Unofficial Patch installed :)!
Great atmosphere and good characters. The storyline is rather good IMO not superb.

I think its still glitchy. There are even some gamebreacking bugs in the game but not many.

FWIW, I don't think the combat is clunky. It's just kind of basic and not all that good, and the late game has too much of it.

For atmosphere, story, and characters, you can't go wrong.

Yes, there shouldn't any game breaking bugs left! But often people switch between unpatched and patched games or similar and mess up their game to report it here.

A fascinating atmosphere, a clever storyline, and very memorable characters. It's a fantastic game that captivates you for all its duration and stays with you well after you've finished it. And the diversity of choices for your character gives it great replay value. Even with its (largely corrected) flaws it's one of the great games of the last 30 years, a stunning achievement comparable to Deus Ex.
I think you'll love it.
Even with just the 1.2 official patch, one can finish the game with a little effort although the bugs are irritating. The biggest pre-unofficial patch bug (that I can remember) was passing through a temple door - one often had to use a cheat to pass through the "would not open" door.

I fully agreed, I have bought the game and still playing it until now. damn... I love the atmosphere, you know a game has great atmosphere and ambience when being in the sewer brings you this sanctuary-like-feeling, just to stay away from the crowd and don't wanna be seen, lol.

so far I have only encountered 1 bug that actually problematic, that's when you gotta bring a man to a nagaraja called Pisha (if my memory serves me right) and when I let the man go, the screen changed to a scene where the man are at the front of the door but he's not doing anything and the scene just stopped there without any progress, and mashing the buttons didn't do a thing. in the end I sorted this problem out by typing a specific code on the in-game command.

The first time I wanted to replay it I got a lot of problems.
Now its working fine. I dont know, but I think you need a little bit of luck to have a playthrough without bugs. Good game anyway. Althoug I find it somehow confusing here and there...

Great storyline, great atmosphere, you're in for a treat.

IIRC, it was actually unfinishable upon release, unpatched. GOG's version already comes with last official patch + Wesp's basic patch applied, you won't have problems with that.

If you end up buying it, do yourself a favor and don't play a Malkavian in your first playthrough, leave it for another time, you'll appreciate it even more (yes, you'll want to play this game more than once, I assure you).
The most important thing is to have an idea about who your character is, so use the question-and-answer method for your first game and go with whatever you get.

If you happen to get a Malkavian, go ahead and play it. Nothing bad will happen.

I got the Nossie - couldn't finish the end game battles. Well, a poor build might have happened with any of them so I agree. However, what it did do is, once I played Malkavian (which isn't one of my favorites - too goofy - was to make me a bit upset that they put so little effort in Nossies - that would have easily have been the most fun clan to play if done even a little right with the same design effort put into Malkavians. As is, it just doesn't work - jokes of face sculpturing, etc to make it semi-plausable were lame. Anyway, not to get me wrong on this - I've probably replayed this game more then any other I've had - just wish the Nossies weren't treated like a joke.

I think that's a common complaint with most clans. There was a guy here the other day who had the same problem with a Gangrel:

I also got a Nosferatu for my first game, and I had trouble in that same place, mostly because a Nos is naturally suited for stealth killing rather than face-to-face fighting. Of course, if you know you'll have to be doing that in the end you can make a Nos a really powerful melee fighter. They've got great disciplines for that. I never tried Animalism, but that might work too.

I agree with you about some of the wasted potential of Nosferatu (I've always wondered why they don't just wear hoodies when they're walking around the streets). On the other hand, when I've replayed the game I have noticed some pretty good stuff they have for dialogue. After Malkavians, Nossies have the best custom dialogue responses.

If you've never talked to the cop who stands in front of Gallery Noir after the slashing incident (not Chunk, one of the regular cops), you should give it a try.
