This might be a great game, but with a maping mode from the Dark Ages, it sucks. I'm tired walking around in the dark mine trying to find the entrances to the 2nd and 3rd levels of the mine. I think it would have been nice if there was a compass in the game.

Is that all what you've got? Don't you see how ridiculous you are, asking for a quest compass in a crpg? Besides, the game is so linear that I fail to see how you could lose your way out. Just follow the yellow brick road. Even a yankee can do that (see, I'm nearly as quick at repartee as you are)

You can always drop worthless pieces of loot on the ground in key points of the maps (intersections) to keep you from going around in circles.
I agree that a compass would've been nice. In the game's defense, one could argue that it's basic layout would've been more realistic and representative of the time.
What helps me to navigate in this game is to find a door/entrance that's a load point as these are always denoted on the map as red diamond shapes and easy to see in map. Using these reference points and given the general linearity of the areas, navigation isn't too bad.
I agree, it's way more irritating in the dungeons. It can make you feel a little like "the lab rat in a labyrinth looking for the cheese."

I'm not sure how useful a compass would be but an automap feature would have been appreciated.
Since the game's gameplay resembles Diablo quite a bit it seems only nature it should have had this to begin with. The overhead map it gives you now is nearly useless. I usually don't get lost in games but some of the environmental design in this game is a bit repetitive so sometimes it's confusing to navigate; this seems especially true in the early stages of the game when you're in Prague. I sometimes end up down the wrong alleyway when trying to find the exit to Judith Bridge or the Northern Quarters lol
As for Ogg: what's with the hostility? Who are YOU to judge someone else for their issues with the game. The OP's comments were well within reason. You'd think, judging by your reaction, that he criticized your prize poodle. Get over yourself - seriously!
Considering the game came out in 2000, I think the lack of navigation system is okay. This was before the big open maps of GTA ect and sometimes when you're on an adventure, you don't know when or how it will end. If you have a shorter attention span, Redemption will torture you a bit I think it's charm has held up pretty well over the years, jmho. There is a basic map feature in the game but it isn't very useful. Considering my knowledge of the engine ect, idk if it would even be possible to make a compass. The people who I know who still mod Redemption are focused on multiplayer content almost exclusively so I wouldn't hold your breath on any kind of compass mod.

Egads, guy! Do you administer everything? :)
Edit: Oh, wait "PV" - not here too.

In the old days, we got by with just graph paper! LOL. No, I agree with you totally. The map really bugs me. The rest of the game holds up pretty well.

It would be great if they remastered Redemption with some QOL improvements.

You Giovanni raising old threads!

But yeah, I had more than a couple of full graphing pads with maps of a whole bunch. Honestly, nowadays I like getting lost in the map. If I can turn it off, or at least the GPS function, I do that. Makes the game last longer. Just wish they would be a bit more descriptive when giving out a quest, or the quest journal.
