I just finished playing Bloodlines for the first time. When I reached the point where you have to make a choice in the cab, however, I wasn't given options to ally with the Camarilla or the Kuei-Jin. It doesn't matter this time, because I was going for the independent ending anyway, but I'd ultimately like to try out all five endings, each with a different character. I was generally polite to Ming, but apparently I wasn't nice *enough* for the Kuei-Jin ending. Is it a dealbreaker to ask her about the Chang brothers when she meets you outside the Hallowbrook?

As for the Camarilla ending, the walkthroughs I've looked at say that you have to do the Regent's Riddle and Gargoyle Removal quests without betraying Strauss's secret to Isaac. I persuaded the gargoyle to ally with Isaac instead of killing it, but I didn't tell Isaac that Strauss had created the gargoyle, and since Strauss gave my Tremere PC a new haven, I *thought* I'd satisfied that requirement. Does it not count if you don't kill the gargoyle?

Are you sure? There should br several answers that lead toward Strauss or Ming. They can sometimes seen cryptic, espaecially if playing as Malkavian. I just played for the first time in years as a gangral and all were there.

NOTE: I'm assuming you are using the unofficial basic patch provided and not it's laatest update or any mods.
As mentioned, I was playing as a Tremere. I got four conversational options, but the last one basically just looped back around to a point where you have to choose LaCroix, Anarchs or going it alone. I wrote down how each of them begins:

1. I should go to the Prince...

2. If the Anarchs knew...

3. I don't trust anyone...

4. Smiting sounds good...

To answer your other (implied) question, no, I wasn't playing with any mods except for the basic UP which comes packaged with the GOG download.

When you played, how did you deal with the gargoyle?

The decision process starts much earlier when the cabbie says: You work for Prince LaCroix, don't you?

Boy, I just don't remember - I went for going it alone since I was gangrel. I do remember that it was a twisted path to the Camerilla ending and not at all straight forward. I'm guessing starting with the Prince then something like "I don't trust him". I remember a choice for the Kuei-Jin ending this time, though. It was something like, "everyone thinks I'm alligned with them so I may as well be". Not sure if I chose something different earlier as Wesp5 suggested.

As per the gargoyle, my persuasion was high enough to convince him that he should ally with Issac. Failing that, the hammer for sale at the spot comes in handy. Ah, this brings something to mind - some care has to be taken as I recall when reporting /asking about the gargoyle to Strauss. I'm thinking that if you teed him off, there may not be a Camerilla ending.

Ah, okay. I loaded the scene from the beginning and tried different responses. I found that if you suggest allying with either the Anarchs or LaCroix, but then express hesitancy over whether that's the right choice, you can get to a point where the Driver will suggest that LaCroix could be deposed. I haven't found any path that leads to allying with the Kuei-Jin, though.

As I said in my original post, I did the same thing with the gargoyle. And I assumed that since Strauss gave me new digs at the Tremere chantry, that I'd succeeded in not teeing him off. As it turns out, I was right; I just needed to try different options while talking with the cabbie. I'm guessing that for the Kuei-Jin ending, I should simply suck up to Ming at every opportunity.
A follow-up question: is there a console code I can use to change the ending after I've already made my decision? On reflection, it makes sense that my Tremere PC would align himself with Strauss, but I don't feel like replaying the final two boss levels just for that.

Sorry; I wasn't clear. I was answering the "how did you handle the gargoyle" question. Also, I check this once daily so the two day delay from the original post was more then my memory could handle. Anyway, you got your answer and know how to proceed via Wesp5 so, that's all that matters. Can't help on the final question. Wesp5 is the resident techy here.

I think you can switch the ending during the taxi fight by entering the story state while in your haven or shopping:

100 Cabbie takes you to Chinatown (Kuei-Jin ending).
105 Cabbie takes you to Chinatown (Sabbat ending), added by wesp.
110 Cabbie takes you to Prince (Prince ending).
115 Cabbie takes you to Anarchs (Anarch ending).
120 Cabbie takes you to Chantry (Camarilla ending).
125 Cabbie takes you to Chinatown (Solo ending).

I realize I'm resurrecting a quite old post, but I'm not clear on how to do this. I've tried "G.Story_State = 1xx" in the console, but nothing happens.

What are the complete command lines that you actually have to type?

If you want to jump to a specific ending you need to type G.Story_State = x and then one of the endgame maps sp_endsequences_a/b. Or you jump into the cabbie map sp_taxiride and choose it through the dialogue there...
