I am running the GOG version in WinXP Home SP3 and can get the black console line and pulsing cursor to come up on screen but if I type in (for example) "god (space) 1" .... without the quote marks of course .... I get the message "unrecognised command".

Can anyone help, please ??

Do other commands work? Try for instance addthing platemail and see what happens. Another thing to try is to type go and then press the "tab" button, then the console will fill out the rest of the command, make sure you have it right.

Yes. The "addthing" cheat has always worked. [I've already used that.]

I tried your suggestion of typing "go" and then hitting the TAB key.
The "go" only got completed to "god". [Not god 1.] So I tried with just "god" but that didn't work either ;-)

I'm managing OK so far by just using some of the other cheats :-D

Yes, the "1" is the enable handle. The command is just god (0 or off by default). I tried it too and it appears it doesn't give any console messages, however after setting god to 1 I noticed that enemies could no longer hit me. I suspect that in this game god doesn't make you invincible but rather sets the dexterity attribute to sth crazy like 999 so that the enemies can never land a blow on you...

No matter what your dexterity is, you can't dodge an explosion. God mode DOES make you invincible.

Can anyone help me with figuring out how to add -console? I've been using a mac for years. Finally back on pc. Used to play this game back in the day. Anyway I can't figure out how or where to add console since this is downloaded from gog. I appreciate any help.

right click on the shortcut or .exe application that you normally use to open the game. At the top of the window you will see a line that has Target. In it is the location of the file for the game in parenthesis on the last part of the parenthesis you will want to hit space then -console. and hit apply. As long as none of the other lines are messed up it should update just fine. Launch the game and once you get into the game press ~ key which is the key above the tab and to the left of your 1 key you will see up at the very top kinda in the middle of the screen a cursor. If not you may need to check everything over again. And yes this will work with the Gog.com download as well and it works on Win 10 too.

You left out a step. Right click the shortcut *and select properties from the list*.

I knew I was going to forget a step lol...got ahead of myself like usually thanks for pointing that out to me and to the others who may find this helpful.
