Just started playing this game, and I'm encountering some bugs that are seriously impacting the experience. The first, and worst, is that the game seems to have major issues with me feeding on rats (a big problem, since I'm playing a Nosferatu); nine times out of ten when I approach a rat to feed, the game either gives me a "feed attempt failed" message, or the camera draws in like the feeding is about to start, but then it doesn't happen. I've been able to consistently feed if a lone rat appears at one particular junction in the Santa Monica sewers, but that's not enough to keep my blood topped up.

Also, I read the e-mail to get the Bloody Mess quest, but it hasn't shown up in my questlog. There have also been a few minor bugs (namely the locked doors in Mercurio's apartment vanishing, along with all his furniture), but these are the biggest two. Isn't the GOG version supposed to be bug-patched already? Is there something else I can do to fix this? Help!

Rats? You have to be as close to them as possible, touching them is even better. Try "targeting" them with mouse cursor while looking at them straight to their body-mass. They don't flee from Nosferatu. Also, walking around a bit down there in the sewers, can lead you to many rats. Each gives 3 blood points to a nosferatu...

About the quest you say, i don't know what's wrong, but if you go to clinic's upper level you can see if the quest is active (or not), by checking the controlled substances room's fridge (needs hacking to close cameras and open the door, or kill policeman and pick keys).

How are you launching the game? It is an important question because if you are launching it without loading the Unofficial Patch mod, you're playing the broken game as pushed out the door as the developers were cleaning out their offices back in 2004.

I've been launching it through GOG Galaxy. How do I launch it through the Unofficial Patch?

EDIT: Never mind, I realized what was wrong; I initially launched the game via Steam (trying to use my Steam Controller with it; not really a good fit), and I accidentally launched the actual Vampire.exe file, not the GOG-created file. Thus, when I launched the GOG file, the patch created bugs on my game saves.

I started over using just the patched version, but still encountering bugs. I'll post another thread about it, though, since this one's been addressed.
