I'm playing toreadore and I'm at the point where Jack tells me go into a warehouse and I have to lock pick the door. The problem is that I can't seem to do it. I've tried everything I can but it keeps telling me that my something(I don't remember what) is too low to pick the lock. Is there any way to get around that particular door? Or am I going to have skip the tutorial all together? Thanks!

Your dexterity is to low.
Use Blood Buff (this will temporarily raise all your Physical Stats to 5). You should then be able to pick the lock.

use blood boost.

Note that if you're playing with the Plus Patch, Blood Buff will only add +2 to each physical stat, but that will still be sufficient to lockpick anything in the tutorial level.

If you are just using the GOG installer, you are using the Basic Patch and things will work as previously described.

Did you remember to pick up the lockpick? If not, go back around the outside of the office to the place where you jumped up on the metal walkway, just above the car body. The lockpick should be sitting on some boxes

I don't think it's possible to make a character that can't pick that door, but it is possible to miss the lockpick. You'll need it for the rest of the game.

I was wondering that too and thought the same about the tutorial. Still, can you even attempt it without the pick?

Oh, yeah; I did an "Archie Bunker". That's buff, not boost.

I think you can try. I seem to remember once I forgot to grab the pick and tried it. Could be my faulty imagination though.

You can try but you will get a message that you need the lockpick then, so you will get back and take it.
I had the lock pick but I forgot about blood buff. I used it and had no problem picking the lock. I haven't played Bloodlines since it was first released so this is like I'm playing it for the first time. Still seems familiar but at times my memories a little vague on some parts. I'm up to the point where I've done Mercurio's quest, E has given me his quest, have an email quest.....now I'm just exploring before I get back to the main quest. Are places I should go to while I'm checking things out?

The pier while you're there I suppose. You'll have to go there later anyway and I'm not sure if you can do what you need to do for that early but there's a wolf if you look quickly and if you are playing a killer, I think you can privately ambush a cop and take his gun. There's an arcade there that's kind of fun to check out. Other then that, there's quite a few side quests available in town (blood banks, private detectives, diner, pawn shops, a prostetics shop, etc) and some interesting things to see if lucky. The parking garage has a few secrets too.

OK, hope I did that without spoilers.

I went to the blood bank and got Mercurio some morphine and sold Trip some drugs I found. There were some computers I couldn't hack and few other things I couldn't do because I kept being told my skills weren't high enough. I found the arcade but I didn't see anything to do. I guess I should go back and check it out and again. I'll just keep checking things out before I go and talk to Therese and see what I can find.

There's really nothing to do at the arcade; some of the games were jokes is all. You can go back later to hack when your skills are better if you wish.

Remember as a Toreador you can use Auspex to temporarily raise your Wits by 1 (at base level). That means your hacking also goes up by one - not quite as useful as Blood Buff is for lockpicking, but still handy.

I appreciate the pointer. I had forgot about that. Like I said it's been quite since I played Bloodlines so it's like this my first time through. At times things will come back to me. At other times not so much.

Isn't that better, though? I often wait for a year or more between gaming sessions of Bloodlines so I will forget a lot and not get into a routine.
