Hey guys,

I bought and downloaded Urban Chaos yesterday and started playing today. Problem is, that it will crash to desktop randomly every couple of minutes. I then get the infamous "fallen.exe has stopped working" message. Running it as admin does not help. I'd be grateful for any suggestions...

What version of Windows are you running? Have you tried any compatibility modes? The Windows Event Log should have a record of this event with some technical details - can you post that?
I have a similar problem, I run the game under Windows 7 x64 with my Intel HD chipset.

No matter what compatibility setting, what graphics driver, what resolution and color depth I use, after all 3 splash/intro videos, my screen goes black, and if I swap for the task manager, it tells me fallen.exe is not responding and I have to kill it.

Did anyone encounter issues with running this game under Win7 x64?
How did you work it around?

I was considering installing a Win98/XP VM.
I've gotten the same error, running a quick test it seems to be a 3d card problem - possibly Directx Related or it doesn't support newer 3d cards. GOG really needs to step up their game on this.

If you load the game with Software mode it should work - if that doesn't the problem could be you're running it at a resolution too small for your monitor - try the Widescreen mod available in a different topic. Unfortunately on my 16:9 monitor it doesn't even render properly so the game is unplayable.

Yeah, I guess you're right, it's a 3D card problem because the game used Dx7 and starting with Dx10 stuff changed around.
I installed the DirectX June 2010 SDK (link in the support page for the game on GOG.com) and rebooted my computer and now it runs fine both in software and hardware modes.

I found this site that offers a widescreen patch, I haven't tested it, so take it for what it's worth, but if it can help you...
