Greetings,

Linux 2.0.0.4, Windows 2.0.0.5, Mac 2.0.0.8. Why's that, and are Linux & Win missing features or fixes that are not system-specific?

Thanks for any enlightenment

Hey V4V,

The version numbers you are talking about are the version numbers of GOG installers. They are not the same as the game version and I believe Uplink is up to date on all three platforms. None of the platforms is missing any features :)

I see 1.6.2 in the lower right at the main menu here.
Thank you both for the clarifications.

@linuxvangog: It seems a bit odd to me that the installer version is part of the filename instead of the game version. Who cares about the installer version other than in very rare situations? (e.g. problems with the installer)

edit: I like your username and title. :)

By version of the GOG installer I mean: version of the GOG build. This number is being iterated for example when we are sent an update by the developer or when we make a small tweak in a DOSBox game.

Anyway, the version number of the game itself is listed on the downloads page :)

I have the Linux version, the download page says "1.6(GOG-4)", but in-game it shows 1.55, same if i check the "gameinfo" file. Any idea?

The latest official version of the game, supported by Introversion Software is 1.55, see sources:

https://www.introversion.co.uk/uplink/otherfiles.html
http://forums.introversion.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=55

However, looks like the Mac version was made by an external company and its version number is 1.6. Apparently, there was also an unofficial patch for Windows version that was named 1.6. That could lead to version number discrepancies between platforms.

In the end, you can be sure that the game is not missing any important features, that you have the latest available version and you don't have to worry about the version number. Thank you for staying watchful!

Version numbers should be accurate or they don't have any meaning.

If the Linux version really is 1.55, could you please take care that it's corrected on the download page?

Thanks

Hey Mr. Vangog! I know this is offtopic, but still if you have some answer it would be great... Is there hope for Crimsonland update for Linux?... thanks!
