I had UT back when it first came out, and remember downloading lots of community made stuff for it, which just involved copying files to the textures/maps/sounds/etc. folders. Should everything still work with GOG's version?
Also, does GOG's version associate .umod files with UT like the original does?

Mods and mutators work fine, at least the ones I've tried so far. I did have to download a utility to install the umods though.

You can manually install umod files also by placing the umod file in the
"UnrealTournament -> System" folder. Open a command prompt there and type "setup.exe install <umod filename>". Once you're done installing you can remove the umod file.
