So I installed Unreal Gold, installed the 227i patch, the highres texture pack and everything seems to work fine, if it weren't for the fact that like the lower quarter to one third of the screen has a green filter over it. I've never seen anything like it; part of the image essentiallly has a green pain of glass through which you look; always remaining at the same distance and so it just moves up in front of you.

I don't understand this, have no idea where to even begin trying to figure out what the problem is and how to solve it. Anyoen have an idea? If so, please help me solve this problem.

Running Windows 10.

I can't tell you what causes that, but the obvious things should be to try all the different renderers or tweak options such as resolution and bit depth.

What renderer are you using?
I was using OpenGL; switching to Direct3D 9 removes it; so I guess that solves the problem in a way, but don't get graphical options in OpenGL you don't get in Direct3D 9?
I haven't compared these renderers. The OpenGL renderer might give you more options but I don't think I need them now any more than I would've needed them in 1998. Even the software renderer is good to play with, though it seems to lack Z buffering which can give you some unsightly glitches.

Maybe you can still get the OpenGL renderer working properly though, if you tweak the options. Bring up the console and type preferences, and you'll find them all there. But I'd start with the resolution.

Another thing to consider is the original opengl renderer that ships with the game. It might work just fine.

I thought the patch has an improved OpenGL renderer?

Quite possibly a driver issue. You could try older/newer drivers. Given that you have Windows 10 you might reinstalling the driver also might help.

It's supposed to be, yes. However, that doesn't mean it's free of bugs.
Advanced Options -> Renderers -> OpenGL -> Set ColorizeDetailTextures to false.
