I would like to know if anyone on here knew how to benchmark in the original Unreal, because after hours of searching, I still haven't found anything :(

I use only Tools->TimeDemo Statistics, but that's enough for me. Are you looking for a more detailed benchmark?
Open a console, if I recall correctly you must press Tilde (~) or maybe Tab.
Now try entering one of the following commands:
- timedemo
- stat fps
I have been told that as soon as you start up the game, there is a simple command in the original Unreal menu, that will make it do a benchmark. That is what I'm looking for.. STAT FPS only shows and fps counter during gameplay, and it only shows 3 numbers, which means I can't see the entire number..

Timedemo doesn't work in the original Unreal, only in UT.
just to confirm in case anyone else comes here to find out how to benchmark Unreal 1 (original, steam & GOG)

open console using the ~ key

Type: stat
Type: timedemo 1

Doing this on the opening menu loop will run a cycled timedemo and record loops time/fps stats.

it will keep looping in cycles.

To stop it and get a final figure

Type: timedemo 0

If you have run atleast 1 cycle (1 loop of the full menu animation) you will the final results in the console.
