As a Brit, I don't know anyone who knows a single thing about the American Civil War. I've had to endure years of endless football chat ( soccer to our American friends ). But can I find a single soul who's interested in the blue and the grey. It's just not on I tell you.
Now though, along comes this game and with it the hope that there'll be some interesting community discussion. Because many people, especially here in the UK, simply don't realise how interesting and important the Civil War was. Most just say it was about slavery and that's all they think they know. It's a Brit thing. Like Baseball ( which incidentally originated during the Civil War ), most Brits think it's a batter's game as opposed to a pitcher's game. And it's a shame.
Cos little do they know.
All I'm going to say for now is .... The American Civil War was the last romantic war and the first modern war.
PS ... If I run out of ammo I'll sweep down little round top like Chamberlain. Not sure if this is possible, but it's in my head.
In fact ... I'll finish up and make a purchase. I simply can't resist.

EDIT: which I did :)

Just picked this one up as well. Always wanted to try one of these types of games. hopefully this one will be easy enough to get into this type of game.

I've been playing around with it and my first impressions were hot and cold. It does crash from time to time, but that might just be my laptop. I was also hoping there would be more of a soundtrack. The civil war produced some of the best tunes that would have made the game far more engaging, which Sid Meier's Gettysburg used to full effect.
The good news is ... It's a top notch strategy game, and would/should make for fantastic multi-player. But it's also excellent in solo play due to the variety of enemy styles. It's easy to learn the basics and I found it a joy to play. I just wish there was a way to form a column when marching. But other than that, it has that special something that games of this type strive to create ... addictive, tactical gameplay. It's also an attractive game.
All in all ... It was a sound purchase. I'll definitely load it up for a play on a regular basis. You can't say more than that.
It kind of grows on you. So stick with it. Might see you on the battlefield one day :)
Had few custom battles, and looks good. One of my better purchases I think.
Have even swapped from the Witcher 3 to this title for awhile.

Not that there is anything wrong with witcher 3.

The Brits were pretty seriously involved in the Civil War because they were desperate for cotton exported from the South. The South pestered the Brits constantly throughout the war to intercede on their behalf. The Brits on the other hand, did not want to get involved unless it looked like the South might win.
