tbirdo: I assume you mistook the topic title. You do realize that Richard Garriot created one of the first mmorpgs, Ultima Online, and some people still play it to this day?

Toshi: Is this topic about bringing Ultima 7 up to today's standards or about creating a new MMO? I saw "World of Ultima" and immediately thought MMO. I could be wrong. I'm wrong a lot. :)
Worlds of Ultima was a series of spinoffs using the Ultima VI engine in different settings from Britannia (jungle and Mars). They were really neat and weird, and I'd love to see them on GOG. More on them.

Ultima Online was the granddaddy mmo in the Ultima world, and it's still running.
I would love to see these as well! I am an old school Ultima fan, started with Ultima II, and went from there.... I never did play Worlds of Ultima however, as they came out when I was still holding on to my Commodore 64, and Ultima VI on the C64 was terrible... I don't believe they even tried to port the Worlds spin offs...

So, it would be great to give them a try! I would love to see them put these and 8 on here... 9 if they want to be complete (I think I can still easily run IX... I have the original)...

Thanks to GoG, I am going to do something I have always wanted to do. Play Ultima from 1 - 9, in a row, to completion. I know people have done this, and even blogged about it, but now seems like a good time. The GoG games seem to run so well, I don't need to fool around with emulators and settings quite so much! I would love to add the Worlds into this mix too!

I certainly hope we'll get these games too! They are the only ones in the series I do not own (well PC ones, and excluding Ultima Online), and for good reason. At least according to The Collectible Ultima website, Martian Dreams has never been re-released on CD-ROM, and Savage Empire only once, as part of a fairly obscure collection back in 1994. If these two games were added to the GOG catalogue, I would buy both in a heartbeat!

If you haven't vote for them on the GOG wishlist if anything it will hopefully let GOG show EA or Bioware's Ultima Franchise manager that there is a interest in seeing these two over looked gems to come to GOG more so then *Shudders* Ultima IX..

Thank you for pointing that out. I'm new to the site, as if my clearly visible registration date did not already make that clear. Well, I've been browsing it for a fair time, and only recently made an account.

No problem man, we were all "n00bs" at one point, but luckily GOG tends to be more new person friendly then most other forums I can think off.

Also if you have trouble finding them you can find the wishlist entries for the Worlds of ultimas here:

here:

and here: http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/worlds_of_ultima_the_savage_empire_1

also any questions, comments, concerns don't hesitate to ask in the forums or if ya want you can shoot a PM to me and I can try and help or point you in the right direction.

Way ahead of you, I already put my vote in to all of those.
