So, when? I was fighting cyclops' in Minoc mining caves, but when I took stuff from a chest, party members seemed to complain. I thought it belonged to the monsters but I guess not.

They shouldn't complain in dungeons at all AFAIK. Easy fix is to just put the items in their packs or bags.

Placing items directly into your companions' backpacks (not just dropping it on their person) will cause them to never complain regardless of it even being a blatant theft.
