Help! I'm stuck in the throne room at the start of the game. Killed the gargoyles, talked with British, Geoffrey, and the mage, but I can't seem to leave this room. The steel door to the south is closed, as are the oak doors to the east and west.

Feeling a little stupid, as the fact that I can't find an answer to this through multiple Internet searches makes me think I'm the only one with this problem and must be missing something REALLY obvious. :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was right - it was something obvious. You need to use the door. Sigh.

LOL @ me. :)

I can't seem to find how to mark this as solved (hope this isn't a theme - me missing obvious solutions), but it is.

You can't mark any of your own posts as the solution, and no one else had posted in the thread yet. So you didn't actually have the ability to mark the thread as solved (until now, anyway).

In that case, thanks for the solution! :)
I'm just trying to picture these characters in real life panicking at one another. "Oh no, we're stuck! There's this door in front of us, and for all of our staring at it, it's not opening!" Then one of them turns the knob, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief.
Yeah, but the doorknob was square, not round like the ones they're used to.

Edit to add: On a serous note, I had tried just about everything else. Used both keys on it, tried getting it, moving it - apparently had a mental block on just using it. Seems pretty dumb in hindsight, but for whatever reason it didn't at the time!

While we're at it, here's one other thing that can be confusing; if you look at the spell list, you might notice the lack of a Cure spell and may be wondering what to do when somebody gets poisoned.

Well, it turns out that Dispel Magic is the spell used to cure poisoning, even if it isn't the result of a spell. (Mass Dispel also works. Then again, so does Help, but the "return to Lord British" effect of that spell is often undesirable.)
