Information from the Book of Lore is needed to finish the game. After asking every NPC I thought might know of it, I was unable to find clues as to its whereabouts. So, I went online and it looks like it was originally included in the boxed version of the game. Unfortunately, the Gog package I bought doesn't have it included. If anyone else is in the same situation, I found a PDF copy of it at the link http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.960

If you used GOG Galaxy to download Ultima V, click on the "Extras" tab to find out where to download the manuals.

If you downloaded the game from the gog.com/en/account page, then on the right side of the screen there is a section called "EXTRAS" where you can download the manuals.

The manuals were *very important* to play games back in the day. I'm quite surprised you were able to get very far in the game without reading the manual. You should try to read the manual, lorebook, spellbook, reference card, and look at the map in their entirety before playing the game. You don't need to read the cluebook or the interview with Richard Gariott.

I did download the manual and I did read it. Unfortunately, the manual did not include the section on music from the Book of Lore, and that section had some important information in it that you can't get from the NPC's.

Did you download the Manual or the Book of Lore? They are two different books. Page 20 of the Book of Lore has the music section.

If you can't find it to download from your GOG page/install, there's a 'remake' version at https://www.scribd.com/document/51114318/Ultima-5-the-Book-of-Lore-Remake

It has the same music info on page 24

I downloaded the manual, not the Book of Lore. After some internet searching I found it was part of the printed documentation in the original set. Further search revealed a site that had copies of documentation for many legacy games, including the Ultima series. I downloaded it and got the information I needed.

Well, the point is: You should have downloaded the Book of Lore, since GOG does provide it. Of course you can get it elsewhere as well, but GOG is not at fault here.
