I think I screwed myself, I threw out the spiders silk somewhere, because I was tired of having so much stuff in my inventory and didn't know I needed them for the dragon boots. Right now I'm thinking just trying to get the VAS rune to be able to fly but before I go for that (since I need to find 2 more emeralds), is there some kind of item generation trainer or some way to find an item in the map?

It's an old game so I don't hold my hopes up, in any case, worst case scenario, I'll have to comb every floor for the stuff, cause I forgot where I dumped the stuff.

Found it, had an older save in which I still had the string, fortunately the save file was the exact time I was about to drop the stuff. It was where I thought it was, so I thought, it couldn't be there, but I double checked, it was behind the gold coins, so I couldn't see it... figures, the only thing I didn't wanna throw around to check behind is exactly what was covering the string XD.

There should be quite a bit of string available throughout the game, especially on the upper levels. Glad you found the original batch you had, though.

i remember there's quite a lot of string found near spiders, and you can trade for them too. anyhoo, you don't need the dragonskin boots to beat the game, though it helps a lot in level 6 and below.
