I am not new to this game. First played it in 2000 - 2001. However, there is much I have forgotten, and some new bugs, that were not present back in the day.

In the Dungeon Shame (Trinsic) on the upper level, there is an invisible bridge along the east wall, back to the pentagram, after you step into the yellow light, and make your way back to the statue, to turn it white.

This time around, I have only been able to get across that bridge once, without falling down onto the red carpet area below, quite by accident. I went to drop down into the red carpet area, to go around and take the stairs back up (which most videos out there do,) but rather than dropping down, I was walking on a solid surface all the way across to the pentagram. So I know the invisible bridge exists.

My question is: is there something I did to trigger the bridge to "appear" (though invisible,) or was it just blind luck? Is there a specific spot from which to access the bridge, or is the bridge just glitching out most the time, and the game decided not to glitch just that one time.

This is certainly not a game stopper problem, call it OCD perhaps. I have been able to solve the big game stopper bugs (like having Raven sail you to Trinsic, (manually sail the boat,) talking to Tydus, trying to have Raven take you to Britain from Minoc, etc.

There are not many players for this game anymore, but hopefully someone out that has an answer to the bridge. Thank you for your time.

While it's been long enough that I don't myself remember, I did a quick search and turned up the following walkthrough:

https://mikesrpgcenter.com/ultima9/walkthrough.html

And indeed, in the entry for Shame, there's mention of walking an invisible bridge along an easy wall as a means of return.

(I see no mention of a trigger for it, offhand. But it's possible that the walkthrough simply doesn't state that trigger explicitly.)

Thank you for the reply. Yes it was MikesRPGCenter walkthrough that I first learned of the invisible bridge in Shame. I remember when playing years ago, that I used the bridge to return. I seem to recall there was a specific spot by the watcher to access the bridge, but so far have not been able to find that "right" spot, although I did do it once, by accident.
