Hi,

as the title says, after killing the Beyolder, I mean, the thing with the many eyes, you pick up a lot of money (around 300 pcs). This and all the stuff you get during the prologue is gone after getting transfered to Britannia. All I have left in my inventory is a book that explains controls and stuff.

Question: Is the game supposed to work that way? Cause I find it really strange that the game gives you so much stuff during the tutorial, including money, just to take it away from you. Where's the point in giving it to you in the first place?

AI says the player is not supposed to lose the inventory after getting to Britannia, but AI is AI, you know.

So cause I couldn't find anything regarding the issue in the internet, I'm asking you guys:

Is this normal game behaviour? Or one of the many bugs the game is said to be plagued with?

Thx.
Gazer is what the Ultima series calls those creatures. Yeah, you are supposed to lose all that stuff from Earth. Welcome to the awful game that is Ultima 9.
Yeah that's the way it was originally designed. When you arrive at Stonegate your inventory is emptied, you choose a class or something and depending on your decision you receive different sets of starting equipment.

I think one time I warped out on the cheat pads behind the starting house and it let me keep everything but if you do that you have to make your way back to Stonegate, go inside all the way to the top where you would have appeared normally, then choose your class to get the main quest line started. Depending where you warp to it can be quite a long walk.

But you pick up so much stuff in the game anyway you really don't need to worry about it. Might want to get the economy patch also if you enjoy buying and selling.

All hail Lord British! :)

Since I (almost completely) played through the game a couple of years ago the rather unofficial way, I (more or less) know what I'm in for. Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of jank, but that game keeps scratching a really weird itch. :)

Is it possible that the stuff you lose or get after beaming to Britannia is dependend on the 'path' the gipsy, pardon, roma gives you after playing her question game? Being the nice guy I am, of course I answered all the questions the 'kind' way and became a 'shepard' or something. I guess that's why there's a staff in the room after you arrive.

Well, thanks anyways, guys. Guess I will go now and see what secrets Britannia hides from me.

Turns out you're right, I started a playthrough and the way you answer the gypsy's questions is what determines your class and starting gear. I got Valor and started with a scimitar. Good call there!

Of course now that I started a new playthrough I'll have to finish it of course :)

Happy gaming!
