When i return to New Magincia to give Alagner his notebook back, he is still alive!
The guardian still taunts me, and the crystal ball also show him dying. But he continues messing with his cauldron.

Please help, i can't find a solution for this anywhere!

I'm using Exult by the way.

Did you try talking to him?

I've never encountered that bug, but the way you describe it, it shouldn't have any effect on you being able to finish the game. As far as the program is concerned, Alagner is dead and that's all that really matters.
This may have been a story point originally because Alagner usually shows up at the gates of Trinsic shortly after he is killed but he just stands there, and you cannot talk to him. Although having a zombified scholar wandering aimlessly across Britannia is quite creepy, he doesn't really affect the plot or your ability to finish the adventure. I still can't stop wondering if the live after death Alagner somehow was a part of the plot eg. the Guardian brings back his victims as zombies to serve him or something of that nature.
Alagner should never be alive at this point. Him appearing anywhere is a bug. (One I never witnessed by the way.) And, no, the Guardian is not building an army of zombies. *rolleyes*

But, like ThreeSon said, the game registered Alagner to be dead, so at least you're not stuck. :)
Yeah - there's normally a purgatory area in both U7 games where unique NPCs are kept. Alagner just failed to... go there. (It's under the ocean somewhere if you use the debug F3 teleport option)

In case you're wondering, that's how resurrection works. It removes the corpse and teleports the NPC from purgatory to the corpse's current location - using Armageddon doesn't produce a corpse but instead just causes the NPC to lie down and thus resurrection will not work.

In Alagner's case he gets a corpse with no valid ID tied to it. :) Poor dude - he was so jolly too.
