I'm playing the GOG (no patches) version, just started and I see my party is complaining on being hungry like they did in Ultima 7.

I thought I recall reading somewhere than in Serpent's Isle they autofeed themselves. Is that correct and if so is there something I need to do to turn that on?

Thanks much any advice anyone has.

No, but if you press the "F" key, the targeted character will automatically take an item from their inventory (actually, I don't know if it's just their inventory or if it can be anyone's) and eat it. While it doesn't remove the annoyance of having to feed your characters, it at least reduces the need to interact with the horrible inventory system.
I've thought of adding an AutoFeed feature to my UltimaHacks, so that you could just press something like Shift+F once and it would then use food until everyone was well fed (or the food ran out). I think Exult has a feature like that.

I'd take that :-D

I'd go further and like an option that would remove the requirement for food entirely.

Also, one for reagents, so that MP would be the only limiting factor for spell casting.

no starving,
no reagents,
no freezing or melting in U7SI (probably 6502 hasn't gotten to those parts yet)

lots of use cases for a preferences / config file..

Well...if you are externalizing stuff anyway.....well...you know, where I'm going, I guess. :-DDD

of course : )

but no promise that i'll have time to work on any of it any time soon.

I totally agree with you on the inventory system. It is sooooo tedious.

"F" worked great, thanks!

This is the way *Mandalorian voice off* ;-)

6502: check the docs for the "Reference Card": Serpent Isle has quite a few useful key shortcuts build in to make life easier...even without cheating, Exult or Johns UltimaHacks :-)

pocococo: no reagents,
i'm thinking, rather than adding a { no reagents } preference, of adding two features:
.
support for a Ring of Reagents (as of the Silver Seed side quest in SI), which removes all reagent requirements from spellcasting when equipped.
.
enchanting of items (wands, rings, armor?) with spells by casting Enchant and then a selected spell, with the possibility of subsequently (re)charging the enchanted item by casting Enchant on it again. this would require Black Pearl and Mandrake Root for each Enchant, but the specific enchantment spell's reagents would be required only once.

i think adding the Ring would be easier, just a little hack to the executable, though then you'd have to cheat to actually get one, unless i or someone added something more.
.
adding general item enchanting would be a lot of code to add to the executable and probably also a Usecode patch.
.
maybe i'll need to add an easy way to import Usecode snippets from separate add-on files.
