One of my biggest ambitions is to fully explore all the u6 dungeons. Already I have come across two major mysteries that are driving me nuts...

Mystery 1 - wrong

First up is the dungeon wrong. In the ne corner there is a drake cell with a secret door to a ladder going down. Problem is it is blocked by an electric field (not dispellable). There is a switch in the neighbouring cell but whenflicked it says no effect.... what am I missing here?

Mystery 2 - despise

There is a section of level 2 only accesible by a small island on lvl3. This is mentionein the cluebook with a reference to th vanish and reappear spells and onthe net it is mentioned that there is lotsof treasure here. Getting up there, I found only 3magicringx, one ofwhich I ccouldn't reach, and a lot of drakes. Am I missing something? How do I get the red ring? Any more treasure up there? What is the cluebook referring to?

The switch is quality 113 and the energy field is quality 0 so the switch won't work on it. The ladder leads to a cavern that has reapers, bats, and slimes. It doesn't have any treasure.

Mystery 2 - Despise :

There's actually 4 rings there since you can't see the other protection ring because of darkness. Those rings are the only treasure in that area above the island. Vanish/reappear will not work. That is something that has always bugged me about the clue book. You can throw a party member's body past the stalagmites and then resurrect him/her to get the two out of reach rings.

Hmm... thanks. Bit disappointed there's nothing more cunning than the above going on - perhaps these things were cut or broken in a rush to hit deadlines. Oh well. Am working my way through deceit at the moment, have found the dead mage and am exploring further in case there's anything exciting left on the level.

I did discover vanish is great for those pesky caltrops and mantraps though... had never occurred to me to try until that red herring in the cluebook...
That reminds me of another thing I hate. Detect trap and destroy trap only works on containers or doors.

Yes,counter intuative, isn't it?

I've now explored all dungeons except swamp cave, hawkins dungeon and hytholoth. I've only come across a few piles ofloot and I'm sure I remember more than this... I only have 2 suits of magic armour!

Does anyone have a clear list of the important treasure contents of each dungeon?

Also, I discovered a stalactite in shame that produced gold nuggets if a pick was used. After five or so it turned into a fountain. Are there more of these? This one was west of ybarras. Tried a few other stalactites but no luck...

Dug up treasure is random. You will find either a gold nugget or fountain.

I know this is old, but what do these fountains do?
It's just to indicate you won't get any more nuggets from that spot.
I never mentioned this but mystery 1 is fixed in , a much improved game engine for Ultima 6 (With Martian Dreams and Savage Empire support being worked on). It will load the original saved game so you won't lose progress. More details can be seen in [url=http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?posts/3775567/]this thread.
You can get the rings in despise by standing near the stalagmite wall and "passing" (click avatar to waste a turn) until one of your party members re-positions themselves on the other side of the stalagmite (this may take 1-5 turns). Then Solo mode them, pick up the rings, and Party mode walk away to get them on the side with the rest of the party.

While Reappear isn't useful, Reveal will show the caltrops (for example on the third level maze) and Vanish (as mentioned above) will make them harmless. Note that you need only create a safe path one tile wide as the party is smart enough to avoid hazards that they can see.
