So I reinstalled it, and it crashed just as I finished answering the gypsies questions. Argh!

I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Changing to DirectX instead of Overlay seems to have solved the same problem for me. Run the Graphic Mode Setup shortcut in the start menu folder the installer creates and try different settings.

I've actually just been using xu4 now.
