Either my google-fu is weak today, or nobody has bothered to come up with (or write down) a solution, if there is one.

I'm running Windows 7 on both machines. Does anyone know what file(s) I need to move, into which directory, and how to get Ultima II to see a game in progress on the target computer?

(I want to donate my old computer to my brother's family as a Christmas present, and this blasted game is the only thing left that needs completion. If I have to start over, I probably won't bother, making the 40+ hours of grinding I've already put into this thing literally meaningless.)

I'm posting this response because the forum software seems to have glitched. The thread has -1 replies, and isn't showing up on the Ultima forum or anywhere else. I'm hoping that this resets the post count to either zero or one, so that it can be seen.

I don't know how to transfer it (have you tried just moving the entire folder?), but I'll confirm that your thread appears and I (think I) can see the OP.

Thanks. I did try moving the (AFAIK) entire original folder again, but the game itself wants to start over regardless. There's probably a flag in there that indicates whether a game's already in progress, and that's what didn't transfer over.
as long as you copy teh game to the exact same place
as you had it on the old computer you should be able
to access the save properly i think

i think there's an ini file that tells dosbox where to find all the game's files
so if you move the folder and put it in a different location on the new computer
it will assume you have never played the game before

i hope i am right about this and it helps you continue where you left off
Thanks. I tried to edit my answer post above, to indicate that all it took was to sort the files in the folder by date modified, and replace the ones that had been modified since the game was installed. (I had assumed that those files would have been copied over in the first place, but apparently not.)

As soon as I tried to post it, though, my antivirus (as it semi-randomly does) decided that GOG wasn't a safe place to be anymore, and wouldn't let me access the site for a couple of hours. I had already marked Bookwyrm627's post as the solution, so all I can do is upvote yours. Mea culpa.
