I'm just about finished with the game, but I need to find 2 more people to do it! June the Beggar, and the Shepherd companion.

Can anyone give me hints on where to find them?
(Also, I'm already an avatar of humility, so I should be able to recruit the Shepherd, right?)

Try looking in Magincia for the shepherd. Specifically around the perimeter of the town. You need to be level 8 to be able to recruit all 8 companions.

There is no companion called June the Beggar.

Thanks! I managed to find The Shepherd.

But as for the Beggar, I didn't mean as a companion, but just one Beggar named June. Apparently he knows something about Mondain's skull.

Can it be beggar named Jude? She is in Minoc.
Jude was the one! Thanks.

And the hint was that Jude was really, really, really and really poor.
She didn't have that "Beggar" sprite, though. Guess that's why I didn't find her there the first time I visited Minoc.

People have finished the game. I did so years ago. It ain't easy.
But by the time that you're level five, poison should be of absolutely no concern to you. Use Cure spells. They're cheap (5mp, I think) and easy to mix (two basic, easily obtained reagents in Garlic and Ginseng). Poison should be nothing more than a temporary nuisance, and only ever really a threat if you've just come through a huge fight and have a) no magic power left, and b) someone poisoned and very near death. Once you have one or two spellcasters who are of mere utility function (your tinker, for example, with very low MP) it should be no trouble keeping poison away.

I know where you can find all of them, but they're kind of spoilers.
First of all, though, if you're level five and you don't have any backup members, you haven't been talking to everyone. Talk to everyone. And go through the various bits and pieces of conversations with them, too. It's important.
To get a complementary member to a fighter, you're probably looking for a Mage or Druid. Mages hang out in Moonglow on Verity Isle, east of the main continent, and Druids in Yew, northwest of Lord British's Castle. Alternatively, you might look for a Bard in Britain, right in the shadow of Castle Britannia, who can back your strongarm tactics with a bit of archery and still produce decent magic.
There are seven people in the game who will join you. You will need them all; otherwise, you can't have proven your ability to gather and direct a varied group of people with different philosophies and different ideals - remember, an Avatar isn't just a pillar of virtue, (s)he's a leader as well.

If you want more directed (i.e. spoilerish) advice, shoot me a PM.

thanks i have talked to some people and i got that iolo in the party i gave him leather i m8 some notes about a rune in city britain and i found the compassion shrine but i still need to get more compassion i have visited the seer and i got anough valor to go to a shrine but i have to find it first and find out what the mantra is.
Your best bet for finding runes and mantras (and often the shrine itself) is the towne associated with that virtue; check your map, and read The History of Britannia (no, really, read The History of Britannia) that came with the game. That will tell you where to find the city of Valour, at least, and the people inside will be able to tell you more about the rune and mantra.

To quickly increase your Compassion, just keep giving some gold to the beggar in Britain. Each time you give her some, your Compassion goes up, and it doesn't matter how much you give her; it always goes up by the same amount. Thus, you can just keep giving her gold, one coin at a time, to quickly pump your Compassion up to Avatar level.

To learn the mantra of Valor, talk to someone in Jhelom who sounds like he should be telling fables. As for the Shrine... sorry, I think I left my Ultima IV notes in my other office. Anybody got a compass? I can't find anything without it...
