WinstonSmith6079: There's another way as well, but for Ultima IV only.

Try ux4: Ultima IV Recreated. You can get it from this site on SourceForge (completely free, of course):

http://xu4.sourceforge.net/

To use it, just click the "Download" link at the top of that page. Then, on the "ux4 Download" page, do NOT get any of the files under "ux4 Releases", unless you want an older version for some reason. Instead, for Windows, get the one marked as such under "ux4 Daily Snapshot Builds". It's the top-most download link very near the top-left of the page. If you're using Mac OS X, then just get the one just under the Windows version marked as for use with Mac OS X.

It's an installer .EXE. But do NOT install it to its default installation directory. Instead install it to the game folder whereever the Ultima IV game has been installed on your computer. In my case, I had to install it to:

'C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Ultima 4\ '

Now you can discard the installer and just run the 'ux4.exe' to play the game enhanced. Configure it how you'd like in the in-game menu. There's the missing music, and like five different graphical modes, several filtering modes, and other extra features hehehe

That's all! Enjoy the game! hehehe
Hello guys,

Could somebody help me with getting this thing work on macOS Sierra (not High Sierra, mind you)?

Because I downloaded this app, installed it, read ReadMe file, but it says that I should put an archive of the Ultima 4 in the folder in the Library folder (a system folder hidden by default), but there's no app's folder there though I clearly installed the app.

Another issue, this app's ReadMe file instructs me to download the Ultima 4 archive from the ultimaforever.com — it says that the app can automatically recognize the archive with the game. But that site isn't online now, it redirects to EA.com. Yes, it seems to be okay since I have a game from GOG, but you see, the game I got from GOG is integrated with Boxer so I don't know how I can create a vanilla zip for the app XU4 to work, anyway.

So I have these two issues. Could someone help me?

My main problem is the lack of the music. I can play with the standard graphics, I don't really need the update for them since I never played this game and it will look old for me anyway. But I would totally love to play it with the music, and not just playing on the background randomly, on the loop (because I found some YouTube playlists with the score and even mp3-files to download), but I would like to play with the music playing appropriately when it should be playing, I mean tied to locations and maybe situations or something — the way it should have been originally.

Maybe you can tell me how I can update the GOG's version of Ultima 4 for macOS? With the Boxer and stuff.

Thank you.
