I have tried a dozen times to post a query and also offer settings for running Ultima VIII in proper full screen, but either the post won't go through or when I add a mssage the original post disappears and a littlt gonk says "oh noes there's nothing three!"

Why are my posts being blocked and deleted?

What is going on? I am a paying customer.

It seems to happen if I quote someone but delete everything except the salient point or if I paste a bunch of DOSBox settings. It gets really frustrating after a while.

It always takes a little time to get used to a different forum message editor, but does this board have an anti-spam filter of some sort? Maybe it thinks that if I paste stuff in I am a spam bot. Can it do that? Or maybe it was low bandwidth?

It's with support at the moment.

Thanks for replying, anyway.

No problem. It looks like you got the U8 issue sorted out in another thread as well. Have fun!
Were you including DOSbox text with square bracket-enclosed headers, or anything that might resemble a BB or HTML tag? If so, the forum might be trying to parse those as BB code and getting confused.
Yes, there were some headers like [render] and so on, but it was basically a detailed post I typed out (not too long) in Notepad and when I pasted it in it just wouldn't go through. I didn't want to type it all again, but it might have been quicker to do so!

I started thinking maybe the forum could tell it was pasted in and so blocked it as spam or something. Well, it was late and I was going nuts!

Ah well, one of those things, I supose. Sometimes it just disappeared and others it went to a page saying there was nothing there as if i had replied to a deleted thread.

?!?

Cheers
I try to make thread without Dosbox tags and it still doesn't work, will it be fixed?
Support contacted me and said that their spam filter is too sensitive. One time, I made a short post and then edited my reply to include the details and it deleted the original! Another, I made a short post and then replied to it and the same thing happened.

By then, I had tried to post the same thing about 20 times, so I might well have looked like a spam bot.

But other times, you CAN post your DOSBox settings with no problem.

They are looking into it, anyway.

Cheers!

According to a staff response in a thread in General, the spam filter mostly bites you if your rep. is low (i.e. if you're new). I'd link to the thread, but the filter would block my attempt to post a URL. Supposedly this is a stopgap until some people return from holidays and implement proper antispam measures.

If you want, you can PM me with the URL and I'll see if I can post it.

Okay here's the URL:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/is_the_gog_site_and_forum_always_50_broken_or_is_it_just_a_christmas_thing/post28.

Basically, it's just the discussion of what VanishedOne has already stated but you can see the exact responses from staff this way. :)
