i just installed it and played the first 20 minutes. everything seems good so far, but i want to know if it's ok to use for a full playthrough. i recently played through u7 with exult just fine. it's not that the dos version looks bad, it's too zoomed in for me. don't want ridiculous resolutions but scaling u8 to 640x480 with a resolution of 800x600 looks great
From the sourceforge website:
While it is currently possible to finish Ultima 8 using Pentagram, not everything is fully working yet. (Save regularly!) In the game itself, most notably, the combat AI of monsters is still very limited, and there are still quite a few minor things which are not working as well as they should.
http://pentagram.sourceforge.net/

That's from 2007 and there have been updates since then though.
hmm yeah, that's the latest i've read as well. was wondering if anyone here has done a pentagram playthrough

or if there's a way to possibly increase the resolution on the dos version? that's the only issue i have with it
I've never been able to really play it, or the original version for that matter. Pentagram, if I remember correctly, is supposed to fix the sorcery spells and their 1 pixel perfect grid thing to make it easier to place the reagents. I didn't find this to be true and although I could sometimes get lucky and get it just right, more times than not I would reach this part of the game and get frustrated and quit playing. This was true while using pentagram and while just playing the original game alone. Somehow when I was a kid, I was able to finish the original version of the game and even got the sorcery spells to function properly, but no such luck ever since then.

Really though, apart from the brokenness of trying to prepare sorcery spells, I think the game is completable through pentagram. I don't remember any issues with it. Maybe an occasional crash, but nothing major.
