Nedrix: 'Options' isn't a menu item - the options are just those three items on the screen (Return to view, Journey Onward, Initiate New Game).

If you want actual audio/video/gameplay options to tweak, try playing with xu4 as Arkose suggested. It lets you configure all sorts of things. And there's the additional benefit that you can play it with enhanced graphics & music, if you like.
Ah, I see. The curser spinning next to the word "Options" made me think otherwise, but that makes sense now, thanks.

Actually, I went one better and pulled out my old NES and Avatar. One of the best ports from PC to a home gaming system ever. :)

Arkose: Oh, you're stuck on the menu screen? There's no arrows for that. Type the first letter of the menu item you want to use.
Haha, that was it, so simple. Thanks for that, can finally play it now.

when i start u4 my save is gone dop i need to start over?

Just downloaded it for my mac. Same problem. Hitting 'enter' seems to get me from intro screen to options. But I can't do anything after that. When I click my mouse in the Ultima IV screen, it disappears. No control or anything. Anybody know of a fix yet?

EDIT: Just read the bit about using the first letter. MAN it's been a LONG time since I played this game on my ol' Atari ST!

In the game, while playing, the Save command is "Q" (for "Quit and Save," but it doesn't quit out) and at the main title, hit "J" for "Journey Onward." Voilà!
