I have had it with the insane, unfair difficulty of UFO:AM - and the constant "forgetting to save for hours" which is my own fault I know. I have it on "normal", which is an English word Altar Interactive seem to think translated into "HUUUUURRRRDUUURRRRRHURRRRHURRRRRR". I could try starting again on easy, but I've already gotten well into the game I'm currently in. And anyway, Altar Interactive probably also think "easy" is the English word for "HUUUUURRRRDUUURRRRRHURRRRHURRRRRR" as well. They were notorious for unfair, stupid difficulty games.

So it is cheat time.

Problem?
As always, yes.

All cheats found online quote this "config.cfg" file. This doesn't exist in the GOG version - though I have found a similar file. However, adding KEY "cheats" BOOL TRUE to it does not work - and the console alegedly brought up by <Shift - "~">, also does not work. The difficulty setting was in that file also. But changing that changed nothing either.
So no cheats, no dropping the difficulty. Ergo, no further possible progress.

So, the question.

HOW DO I USE CHEATS IN THE GOG VERSION?

Note to GOG. Stick to making old games runnable on newer PCs. Stop being "anti-cheat police" by disabling them.

Did you run the game in admin mode? some old games due to some weird issues with modern PCs save their save data in a out of the way temporary folder if not run in admin mode.
