hey guys. any ideia how to force Tzar going widescreen? or to use a custom resolution?

Have the same problem, I have a 42 inch tv hooked up to my pc and boy they don't get along :) I keep getting the invalid format all the time.

I'm fairly certain that there is no such a patch/mod to change the resolution. I remember reading in some magazine that a modder tried to work with this game but then realized it had been poorly coded and thus making a widescreen patch would require a lot of work and since the game was sadly rather unknown he decided to pass.

I bought recently Tzar in GOG page but when I open the game the screen keeps in black and it says "no signal input" so i Can't `lay.
I found on internet that in option you have to unmark DirectDraw to play but in Tzar GOG version this option doesn't appear.
Can someone help me?
I play my games on windows 8, 1920x1200 resolution and in a pc gamer.

Open Tzar.ini in main game folder with any text editor and make sure of this setting:

DIRECTXDEVICE=-1

If value is other than -1 game probalby won't work in modern OS

So wait, are we all just supposed to play this game in a tiny box surrounded by a top of black border???

Go to the Tzar application file in the game folder, right click and set Compatability mode to Windows 98/ME. It won't up the resolution, but it will fill the screen.

You can go to Nvidia control panel and under "Adjust Desktop Size and Position" set scaling mode to aspect ratio, scale on: GPU, then check "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs".

I just downloaded and tried this mod. It works (1680*1050 on my 1920*1200" screen), no issues so far.

You have to patch Tzar to 1.10 before using this mod.

Hey guys,

I want to start off by saying that while I have basic tech knowledge I am not super duper techy so sorry in advance if I don't know what I'm doing or exactly what you may be saying!

I redownloaded this game recently. On the same laptop a few years back I was able to run in compatibility mode for Windows 98/Windows Me and it ran full screen no problem. Now it will not. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

The error I get is attached. When I run in compatibility mode in any other windows except for Windows 98 /Windows Me, nothing happens. Game does not start up. When I run in 98/Me it starts up full screen but with the following error:

"Invalid TZAR configuration detected. Running configuration program."

If I leave like this nothing happens, If I hit OK, the game shuts down. How do I fix this? Just want to enjoy this great little game again!
