Everything goes good until the last little green notch on the Installation Progress...
It pulls up another window with AGEIA PhysX v7.11.13 - I accept the user agreement and get a Fatal Error.

"Installation ended prematurely because of an error."

I hit ok and it says my installation is complete. I go to run the game, and it crashes my whole computer.

I see on GOG support how they have a link to the newest PhysX download as a solution. I get the same message upon trying to install that.

I think its worth mentioning that I don't have an NVidia card. The site requirements state a 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7. I'm assuming NVidia isn't needed.

Here's what I have:
Windows 7 64 bit.
2.2Gig processor
4Gig ram
Half a Terra HD space
DirectX 11

I have a Intel Express graphics card, but it plays everything else - never had any other problems. I know its not a GOG game, but Legacy of Kain Defiance requires a 3D graphics card compatible with Direct X 9, and I'm playing that just fine. Playing GOG The Witcher just fine.

Can someone please help me out as to what the problem might be?
I'd really like to play this game.

Thank you.
PhysX is not dependent on Nvidia hardware, it has a "software mode" that will work with anything and it is required to run the game. First you should uninstall the game and make sure you don't have any version of PhysX currently installed; you might want to get Driver Sweeper to make sure you remove any traces of it. After that, re-ionstall the game, then install the latest version of PhysX. You might also want to disable whatever anti-virus you have running while the game and PhysX are installing; anti-virus can and will screw up multi-installs like this.
Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear that PhysX isn't just a NVidia based product, but I wonder why I have the fatal error.

I've never had a version of "PhysX" on my computer. Actually, this game is about the first I've heard of it. I'm a little confused as the newest version of PhysX does nothing but mention NVidia hardware.

Well, still got the same results. This is after checking my PC for previous versions of PhysX. (don't have any) and disabled my anti-virus during the install. All this after a fresh reboot and install.

Sorry. This didn't work. Any other ideas?
Searched around a bit. Lots of people are having this problem with PhysX. A common solution is to make a shortcut to the desktop, and put /quiet in the target command line.

Too bad this still doesn't work for me, but I don't get an error anymore. In fact, nothing happens. Does the same thing as if I double clicked a blank spot on my desktop.

EDIT: Actually, found out that it starts a few processes by the name msiexec, but they disappear a few seconds afterward.

EDIT and SOLUTION: Turns out this did the trick. There was no program prompting of any kind.... more or less I discovered it actually installed when I looked through my program list again.

- Put the PhysX setup file anywhere except your desktop.
- Create a shortcut to the desktop.
- Add what's in bold to the target: (space, backslash, quiet) like this:
drive:\PhysX_9.10.0513_SystemSoftware.exe /quiet

Once again, there's no prompting of any kind to let you know it installed, or didn't install. It will just appear in your added programs.

Game started up just fine. ....now to start playing. ( ^ - ^)

There is another solution I would like to offer. I've recently bought Trine and its installer required a version of PhysX to be installed. While it is not the latest version, I'm still able to play Two Worlds without a hitch. Perhaps a solution is to installer the PhysX before trying to install Two World. This way, no need to play around with command lines.
