In my humble opinion, GOG should not include any 3rd party installers into their game installers - the never worked for me, not a single time.

The nVidia PhysX installer at least crashes with some stupid error, so I know "it's done" - but AGEIA PhysX installer doesn't do anything, but telling me "Text"? I can see it's text, alright... but should I cancel that or wait until xmas?

I know I have the nVidia PhysX drivers with my default nVidia driver package - so I don't care if that one crashes when GOG installers run - but this time, I'm confused. I don't know "AGEIA PhysX".

Do I need that? Can I download it anywhere seperately? Can I ignore this weird message and click "Abbrechen" (cancel)? Why is it German anyways? My Windows 7 is English...

I'm puzzled, to say the least.

/e ps: I canceled it, since it was just standing there. It told me I could resume the installation later on. Eh? Now, where would that button be.. *searching*

That is odd. I certainly didn't get that message during installation.

What I remember is that you should let the installer install PhysX, and then when it's done you should then install the latest version of PhysX over it. If you don't let the game installer install PhysX it will get confused and not work properly.
Had the same problem, here is what I had to do: Go to System Preferences (or whatever it's called) -> Software and uninstall any version of PhysX you already have (and the Two Worlds if you have istalled it). Now install the game and PhysX should install fine. Once your'e done download the latest version of PhysX and install it over your old one.

At least that has installed the game for me, but it still crashes on startup :(

Game works just fine and smooth. But say, 'tis normal that the NPC have no mouth-movement when speaking? Maybe that's related to not having installed AGEIA PhysX?

Other than that the game runs just wonderful :-)

With installing the latest version: latest version of what? AGEIA PhysX? I do have nVidia PhysX installed - what should I uninstall then? I don't have any AGEIA PhysX in my list "Control Panel » Programs and Features"...

Ps: Nay, stroke that related mouth movement thing - my own character is talking properly and I think it's illogical to have a different engine behind that...

I got the same thing. It went to that PhysX installation and it just said "Text?" with no further signs.
I choose cancel and can still play with no issues (think i played for about 2 hours).

My guess is, that either you don't really need it, or that another game you played allready installed the necessary files some other time

Oh and to vertex: I read somewhere in a review that only main quest characters have mouth movement..no idea how valid, but i don't think that this is related to physx

You got nVidia too? Maybe it helps to install their PhysX - I can't remember any AGEIA PhysX installation ever.. so it might use nVidia PhysX? Don't know if ATI got such a thing.

Thanks statistx.. I'll probably mark your answer the solution, since it's somewhat confirming that this is pretty irrelevant =)

Seems like nVidia owns AGEIA now. I guess my PhysX driver just is compatible then. Further to assume that HiPhish got ATI? Maybe it's worth looking into that direction to solve your problem.

I have the same problem. The pop up window that i attached below says AGEIA PhysX Version 912.02.13 is already installed. You must uninstall the existing version before installing PhysX Version 7.11.13 ..i dont get it, i have never installed any AGEIA PhysX, so what is it suppossed to mean?

It's quite possible that another game installed PhysX for you. It's quite common and used by a lot of games, to the point that some don't even tell you that they're installing it. Take a look and see if you have a version installed. If so, uninstall it, then run the Two Worlds installer and let it install PhysX version 7 for you. Then, install the latest version of PhysX over it. Should work fine.

About the lip-synching problem: This is a bug that was introduced in the latest version of Two Worlds. You can fix it by replacing a certain file with an older version. Check this other thread for details:

Please note that this isn't GOG's fault... it's the original developers who put the wrong version of the file in when they patched the game up to v1.7, and the problem exists for all copies of the Epic Edition. You just replace it with the file from v1.6 and it all works fine. I played the whole game with this fix and it worked perfectly.

I did it before of course, but it still was there..Finally i downloaded Driver Sweeper that cleaned my HDD from "old" phsx forever. After that, installation ran without any problems. Btw, the game looks great :)

Nope, I have an early 2009 iMac with an Nvidia 9400 card. I installed it natively on Windows XP after wiping all of PhysX off my drive, it didn't work (and broke other games). Then I installed Nvidia's newest PhysX and it fixed the other games but Two Worlds still crashes after showing the Splash Screen for a second of two. One user had the same problem and removing PhysXLoader.dll did the trick for him, but it doesn't do anything for me.

What really grinds my gears is that the game does work on Mac OS X in Wine! It's just that performance is not good, that’s why I use Windows. This buggy piece of **** does not work on the OS it was made for but it works on the wrong OS. I'll see if I can find out something, if not I'll contact GoG support :(

If you already have a newer version of PhysX on your system then you don't need to install the older one with the game. Just hit Cancel when the PhysX installer comes up and complains about finding the newer version; the rest of the game's installation should continue as normal.

Garran: snip
I never got that part, the GoG installer installed almost to the end, then the PhysX installer opened and just showed "text" as the OP described. When I hit cancel the game would also crash on startup (that was the first thing I tried before wiping PhysX off my drive)
An iMac with Windows on it? So you made a parallel Installation with boot loader? If you're in the mood, you could get a trial version of Windows 7 and try it there.

And you could try to create a new user in your WinXP and try it there too - in my experience, Windows XP often crippled some users account. Creating a new one sometimes solved the issues. At least it's worth a try and doesn't cost you much time - if it doesn't work, just delete the new account.

Good luck :-)

Oh and always remember to run GOG installers as administrator - for me that solved the issue of double-checking integrity. They seem to have problems with proper elevation there :D

Yes, I have a native Windows XP running (I can get Windows legally for free from the university), I only use it for games though. All Intel Macs can run Windows, a Mac is basically a PC made by a specific company with its own OS. Everything runs as admin anyways, I don't worry about security on an OS that has nothing valuable. The worst thing that could happen is that I lose my save files.

I wanted to install Windows 7 for quite some time, but I never felt like going through the hassle of deleting everything, installing Windows and then installing my games and the bazillion little applications again :/

I got it! Turns out PhysX was just fine, the problem was a missing video codec.

If anyone digs up this thread, here is what you need to do: Go to the game's folder, then the Video folder. You will see some some files can be opened with Windows Media Player. Try opening them and you should get an error about a missing codec. Get the codec and the video should play (WMP crashed for me, so try it a few times). Once the videos can be played in Windows Media Player the game should run. Another possibility is to delete/rename the videos folder, making the game skip the movies altogether, although I didn't test this beyond making a new character and seeing what happens.
