It can’t be just me; does anyone else feel like the game is about waiting while your citizens whine? When you first start, your pirates will complain about not having any grog, and here I am thinking, “I know, but I’m not able to build a brewery until I get some lumber.” Then they gripe about not having enough wenches, and I go, “Okay, well there aren’t enough captives on the island, I need to first build both a dock and a shipyard, then commission a boat, and then raid a settlement.” Then the captives will whine about not having any preachers to listen to, and I’m like, “Hey, I don’t have enough money to kidnap one right now. Even if I did, the pirates have been moaning about cigars for ages, so I need to grab a tobacconist first.”

I also end up with a number of production buildings waiting on raw materials. Despite being a short walk away, I often have a production building with 0 raw materials while the timber camp, for example, will have hundreds of units just sitting around.
