For some reason, Tropico 2 runs poorly on my PC. I get about 10 or 20 fps at 800x600 resolution on software 3D, and it's even worse than that if I run it on hardware mode. Tropico 1 runs just fine on the same PC. Does anyone know how to fix this?

PC Specs:
Windows 8 64-bit
4GB Ram
AMD E1-1200 Processor
AMD Radeon HD 7310 graphics

It's no surprise, that software mode isn't the fastest, the main problem is, that hardware acceleration isn't working. It wasn't properly solved before, if I remember right.

There are some problems with older games and DirectX on Windows machines right now. Just to be sure you do have all libraries, complement your system by installing DirectX9:

Unfortunately Win 8 doesn't support Compatibility Mode for Win XP anymore. Still try Compatibility Mode (e.g. Vista) and run the game as administrator.

Is your graphics card driver up-to-date?
In your graphics card control panel, set 3D options so, that the application choose all acceleration options.

I tried everything you suggested, but it still runs poorly.
