Hi, I've found that after five minutes or so of gameplay, all sound-effects just stop. This has persisted through a reinstall. I've tried changing the volume settings, but alt-tabbing makes the game crash so I can't see if anything else might be interfering with it.

This problem has only just started occurring. I've had no trouble at all with the game for the last year or so.

Any ideas?

Make sure you run it as admin (right-click game's shortcut and select "Run as Administrator").
Also, try different compatibility modes - right-click the game's shortcut, go to Properties -> Compatibility.
I have already tried both of these options, to no avail. I have also tried changing the renderer.

After some experimentation, it seems the sound will always cut out when the first tier-one production structure is clicked.
I've solved this on my own, and I'm leaving the solution here for posterity. While I had the shotcut flagged to run as administrator, it turned out (via some poking in the shortcut properties) that the admin account actually had no privileges over it. Assigning the usual set fixed the problem.
Hi,

I have this same problem.
But I can't figure out what your solution is from your post alone. Mind explaining it further?
