TA Kingdoms

I can hear the sounds of the cinematic playing, but the screen is black. For the actual gameplay, I can see the battlefield, the units, everything. It seems all the cinematics (game intro, chapter intro etc) cannot be played.

Edit: Changing the renderer settings to Software mode seemed to have solved the problem, and I got my cinematics to play, although I am wondering what hardware accelerated effects I am missing out. I don't really know what a Glide wrapper is. This is not the first game that I have encountered that users have mentioned using a Glide wrapper to fix issues. So... we need a third party software to enable some of Gog.com's games to work optimally?

The GoG release of Total Annihilation Kingdoms includes a Glide wrapper, all you should have to do is run the configuration option and select it (not Direct3D).
The only configuration option I can find on my Library menu of TA Kingdom is "Choose Renderer".

On selection, I get a pop-up menu with the following choices:
Direct 3D (full screen) NVidia Geforce GTX970... Dislay 1
Direct 3D (Full screen) Nvidia Geforce GTX970...nvd3dum.dll
Software MMx (Full screen): Software MMX Rendering

Only the third option (software mode) gave no problems and cinematics are working properly. There is no option for Glide.
