Im in Europe and my friend is in South America, we are trying to play online but we cant seem to find each other, is it even possible for people from different regions to play together?

Which Torchlight release do you mean?

You could set up a VPN between you and your friend, and connect via Torchlights LAN connection (at least in TL 2), because a VPN is a LAN that you span through a bigger network like the Internet.
