As so many of us GOGgers I also own the official US version of Torchlight from Runic Games. I know that there is a DRM'd boxed version with a German localisation of the game which once was published by Jowood an austrian publisher which does no longer exist since 2011 (If I can believe Wikipedia). However they owned the legal rights to the German localisation and those were bought (again wikipedia) from a special Austrian branch of Nordic Games. Since GOG also have Nordic Games listed here I was wondering if there will ever be a chance to get an official German DRM-free release of this game. I am pretty sure that I am not the only one who would be interested in this and given that Jowood once published the game for the whole european market I could imagine that they (and now Nordic) would also have the legal rights to other european versions of the game.

I know that there is a German mod available for this game but I tested it and I have to say that apart from several parts of the game that were not even translated at all even the translated ones are imo far from professional so it is not really an option for me. I also used an unofficial patch but this also has minor flaws (like some incorrect special characters and still some missing translations).

Ueber: Du kannst die Sprache (Ton und Text) im Spiel ändern. Die Version ist multilingual.
I think OP was referring to TL1, not TL2.

To OP: Unfortunately, localization in TL1 was a bit of a pain, so we don't have an easy way to offer multiple languages for it without significant development work.

However, you could probably use a mod to get the same result!
I have a late retail release from Jowood.
It is version 1.15 (the same as the gog version) and multilingual.

I tried to replace some files to get the gog version to german language.
I haven't played much, but it looks like it is working.
Text and speech is in german (until now, the only thing I found was, that the classes are still in english on the character creation screen).

I'll upload it and edit this post with the link, as soon as it is finished.
(If needed, I can also upload the other languages.)

Here is the link for the german files:

(becaue I'm not allowed to post links, I had to remove https://)
