I installed torchlight, but when I try to run it, the splash screen sort of thing shows, then it crashes. I have no idea how to fix it, I have reinstalled, re downloaded and don't know what else to do. I run windows 7 64-bit

Okay never mind, it's fixed itself somehow...

It's doing the exact same thing for me, except for the fixing itself part. :/

*sigh* It magically fixed itself.... idk, I did reboot the PC after I installed it, with no luck. Tried it today, it works, I did get a MS update yesterday though.

Update your graphics card drivers or try running torchlight in compatibility mode.
Had the same issue after I changed the resolution setting in-game. Compatibility mode didn't work. (Running Windows 7)

My fix was: Properties > Compatibility > Disable Desktop Composition

Hope this helps :)
I am getting the exact same thing, install the game , double click the desktop icon and it gives a crash report "Torchlight game executable has stopped working"

Tried all of the above with no success, theres a similar problem on the official Torchlight website relating to steam cloud saves, that does not apply to the GOG version ,and some problems where another version got bundled with old runtimes (visual C++ 2008) but neither of those relate me.

My system:
Asrock Z77-Pro3
Intel Core i7 2700 (stock)
32gigs DDR 3 Cursor
2x Asus ATI 6850 1gb (did disable crossfire)
Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate
I have been playing Torchlight regularly for the last year. Galaxy does an update, and as per normal everything goes to crap, so I have to reinstall Galaxy, now Torchlight crashes. This is whether I hit Play in Galaxy or run the executable!

So who the heck knows what is going on with any game once you start thinking Galaxy is involved!
